St. Piran’s Day event – ICA, London 5th March

Live dates coming up next week: Jackie will be performing a set featuring beautiful traditional Cornish material as part of her performance celebrating St. Piran’s Day at The ICA in London on Friday 5th March.  She will also play The Great Hall, Dartington (6th Mar), Llanhennock Village Hall in South Wales (7th Mar), Nettlebed Folk Club (8th Mar) and Howard Assembly Room at Opera North (12th Mar) before heading out to Texas the following week.

Jackie to play SXSW showcase in Texas

Jackie has been chosen to perform at a special English folk showcase, titled ‘Looking For A New England’, at South-By-South-West music conference in Austin Texas in March 2010.  She will also perform in New York with the showcase line up, three days before her Texas show.  The full line up for both events includes Jim Moray, Olivia Chaney, Gadarene, The Unthanks and Trembling Bells with designs for the showcase brochure provided by David Owen who provided artwork for Jackie’s recent single ‘Birthday’.  The showcase is managed by British Underground who were also responsible for the Amy Winehouse showcase at SXSW in 2007.  For more info go to live dates.

New Single On The Way

On March 15th 2010 One Little Indian Records will release a second single from Hyperboreans.  This will be a double A-side with the BBC Folk Award-nominated version of Isle Of France and a new edit of May The Kindness titled May The Kindness(Now We Part).  The single will be available as download only from all good online stores.

Female Vocalist of the Year Award

The plaudits keep on rolling in with Jackie now named female vocalist of the year in the Fatea Awards for 2009.   Sitting along side her nomination for the Folk Singer of the Year Award in the BBC Folk Awards 2010, it confirms again the Jackie’s achievements in 2009.  For full details on all Fatea Award winners click here.

Jackie nominated in the Spiral Awards 2010

One of our favourite websites – spiralearth.co.uk – has established its very own awards with winners being decided by public vote.  Jackie has been nominated in the category for the best interpretation of a traditional song for ‘The Pleasant Month of May’ from Hyperboreans.  To vote for Jackie click here.  Jackie is also a featured vocalist on the Show of Hands track ‘Keys Of Canterbury’ which is nominated in the same category.
